Local context
Local medical context in the Loire region
The Loire region is popular with travellers travelling by car, motorhome or bus. Medical problems often arise while on holiday, touring or staying in a hotel, campsite or holiday home.
Because the region is relatively central, ambulance transport to Belgium or the Netherlands can often be a good solution for stable patients.
For patients who need to travel lying down, have just had surgery, need oxygen or are experiencing a lot of pain, we look at higher medical supervision or an alternative route.

Repatriation
Medical transport from the Loire region to Belgium or the Netherlands
For medical repatriation from the Loire region, we look at the full itinerary:
residence or hospital, local ambulance stage, ferry or airport options,
medical documents, form of transport and reception on arrival.
Depending on the medical situation, this can be done through ambulance transport,
medical escort on a scheduled flight,
stretcher flight or air ambulance.
Repatriation means returning a patient safely and medically responsible
to home, a hospital or a rehabilitation centre. In doing so, we consider not only distance
but also comfort, mobility, pain, oxygen requirements, medical transfer and practical feasibility.

Case study
Case study: fall during tour of Loire region
An elderly traveller fell while touring the Loire region and sustained a fracture. After admission to a regional hospital, the patient was stable but unable to return independently by car or train.
As the region is relatively central, ambulance transport to the Netherlands was considered. However, pain, lying down transport, rest periods and handover on arrival had to be taken into account.
Bryan Morgan Care organised a bed-to-bed journey from the hospital, with medical supervision and clear arrival planning.
The case shows that 'stable' is not the same as 'travel-ready'. For longer journeys, comfort and medical follow-up remain decisive.
