Bed-to-bed transport from Spain
Every stage from the Spanish bed to the final bed in Belgium forms part of the same chain of care.
Local starting situation
The lift, stairs, hospital exit and local ambulance have been confirmed before discharge.
Transport decision
Road or flight transport has designated handover points and responsible escorts.
Route and supervision
The arrival ambulance follows the current schedule and does not leave the patient waiting without care.
Arrival and handover
Access to the home, equipment and receiving person have been checked in advance.
Additional point of attention
The transporter only departs after safe positioning and handover have been completed.
Required information
Identification document, medical summary, current medication and exact addresses remain with the care team. If anything changes, the route is reassessed.
Signing off handover points
For every link, the name, telephone number and responsibility are listed in the schedule. The Spanish department hands over to the first crew; during a flight, the escort takes over in a verifiable manner; in Belgium, an ambulance or healthcare provider follows. Medical documents and medication remain with the patient at all times. This prevents any moment in which everyone assumes that another party is responsible.
